Governor Required to Home-school 2 Children in Harrow, North London
Job ref: G/Harrow
A British family in South Harrow are searching for a professional governor with an educational or teaching background to take charge of the education of two boys aged 8 and 10 respectively. The children are home-schooled, they are at the year 4 and year 6 level but are both at a higher level in Maths.
The children will be home-schooled by the governor or teacher; therefore it is essential that the candidate has knowledge and experience of teaching using the National Curriculum.
This role would suit a primary school teacher, who is looking to be able to take charge of their own lesson planning, with the opportunity to have more time to teach children on a one-to-one basis.
The governor will be expected to work on a daily sole charge basis, providing the parents with daily/weekly updates on the children’s progression and weekly learning plans.
Experience teaching the 11 plus entrance exams would be required and a governess who can play or teach piano would be a bonus.
The boys are quite active and enjoy running, swimming, cycling, football and outside games. The governor will be required to drop the children off to these activities – all of which are accessible by public transport, although a governor who can drive would be a bonus.
Personality wise the family are looking for someone with a positive ‘can do ‘ attitude who is also flexible and generally active and someone who can be a role model to the children.
Due to the family having busy, professional jobs that include worldwide travel, the governor is expected to travel with the family on occasions. Travel can be anything from up to 1-3 months at a time. Destinations include Asia, Dubai, Caribbean and within the US.
The working hours will be Monday to Friday, 8am – 6pm. The salary offered will be £800 - £1000 net per week.
