What’s the difference between a Bilingual Nanny, a Travelling Nanny, and a Rota Nanny?

It’s important to know the difference and benefits of each of these specialised Nanny roles. Below is a brief outline of what to expect from each Nanny role.

Bilingual Nannies

Bilingual Nannies can support your child with the fluency of their native language or even teach your child another language. This may help your child prepare if you are planning to move abroad, give them a boost for educational and cultural reasons or maybe you have extended family, such as grandparents, that speak another language and you would like your child to become more fluent in that language.

Travelling Nannies

Travelling Nannies are specifically hired to go on vacations or work trips and are happy to travel extensively with you. Most live in Nanny positions come with the expectations of some travel in the holidays but Travelling Nannies will work abroad with their family for more than 8 weeks at a time.

Hiring a travel Nanny can help alleviate some of the stress of travelling, especially if you have more than one child or children of varying ages.

Rota Nannies

Rota Nannies provide 24-hour cover by working opposite another Nanny, usually for 1 or 2 weeks on and 1 or 2 weeks off. Families who have had Rota Nannies, appreciate the continuous care given to their children. Rota Nannies are able to provide 24/7 care, including proxy-parenting on a daily basis, when a child is ill or if there is some other unforeseen family circumstances.
