The Role of a Nanny in a Modern Family

What is a modern family, and how can our nannies meet all of a modern family’s needs?

The 'family' of the more traditional variety is one of the oldest institutions in society. Back in the 1950s, the so-called ‘Nuclear Family’ consisted of a mother, a father and children.

Society has since changed, and the word ‘family’ is now synonymous with the nuclear family model as it is with family units made up of children and single parents, step-parents, same-sex parents and a wide variety of extended families.

This type of family is more likely to be called a 'Modern Family' and ultimately is defined by the people in it.

Another difference with the traditional family unit popular in the 50s is that an ever-increasing proportion of parents are returning to work after having children, not only because of the necessity to support the family finances but also because of changes in social and cultural trends.

The idea of a perfect parent is a myth as balancing work and family life is complicated. As the author, Anne Wilson Schaef said: "Asking for help does not mean that you are weak or incompetent. It usually indicates an advanced level of honesty and intelligence!"

Our professional nannies are very much the modern family’s 'team-partner' and form part of your family's support system, making your work-life balance easier and calmer for you and your children.

Young children form ideas about themselves and others by observing the world around them, so we believe it is imperative that our nannies support your family in teaching your children to recognise and celebrate their differences.

Our Nannies can offer your modern family – and particularly your child - a vast wealth of benefits, providing emotional support, physical and academic growth, and nurturing your child's individual needs whilst developing their independence.

Here at Nannies Incorporated, we welcome and embrace diversity. We have successfully placed modern-day nannies with modern-day families for many years and pride ourselves on finding the perfect nanny for your unique family.
