Points to consider when interviewing a housekeeper
- Discuss the hours that you require and any additional hours that may be needed, such as weekends or evenings.
- Duties that you would like to be carried out.
- Discuss your house rules, i.e. friends staying (male/female).
- If you have children, discuss how the housekeeper would feel about evening babysitting or care for child/children if no other cover is available.
- If there are pets in your house, discuss who will be in charge of walking and cleaning up after the pet.
- Discuss accommodation and if possible show the rooms available.
- Discuss any special dietary or medical requirements.
- Enquire about her hobbies and how she likes to spend her free time.
- Ask about the candidate's family and if housekeeper is from abroad find out how often she likes to go home.
- Holiday entitlement and whether this is mutually arranged or not.
